Pushing their views on us

By on October 15, 2009

Student Council’s “Free Newspapers on Grounds” initiative has begun providing students with free issues of The New York Times and USA Today. Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll stick to getting my news from the Internet until these two propaganda machines go under. If Student Council truly wants to embrace diversity, they need to start with the diversity of ideas. These two papers represent the opposite of that, as they are two of the most extreme examples of media bias in America today. Student Council should provide us with a real newspaper like the Wall Street Journal.

usa today is painful to read. but the nytimes is and always will be the finest news organization in the country and a bulwark against tyranny. what they do each day is truly miraculous, and it’s also a very expensive subscription, so you should stop whining and enjoy the free paper. WSJ is still a good paper, too, although it remains to be seen whether murdoch will morph it into one of his tabloidy monsters, which is sadly possible.
