However I am of the opinion that if the Church participates in civil matters then the Church should be taxed just like any corporation or business both Federal Taxes and State and Local Taxes. Our government states clearly in the Preamble to the Constitution and in the Bill of Rights the concepts upon which the countrys government was founded. It seems to me that the Church fails to recognize that fact either because they are unclear of the difference between their relligious beliefs and the civil rights of every American citizen without exceptions towards anyone but the fact that they are citixens of the United States. It seems to me that the educational establishments in the various states have failed to teach the concepts and reasons for the seperation of church and state and the long history that preceded the result of that concept which was put into words and accepted by representatives of our government.It seems to me that the Commonwealth of Virginia is full of delegates who do not understand the concept of the seperation of church and state and who confuse their religions beliefs as above the Federal Goverments laws. The Commonwealth has a sorry history in regards to civil rights as everyone well knows and its a genuine embarrassment to serious historians and civil libertarians and other well informed Virginia citizens who have the intelligence and/or education to think for themselves and who are aware of the history of the conflicts between the Popes and the Crowns of Europe and the transportation of this history to the founding of the United States.Its my belief that the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights transsends anything the Commonwealth of Virginia has on its laws.
