The Virginia women’s golf team came away from this weekend's Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn. with a fourth place finish behind a record-setting performance from senior Lauren Coughlin, securing the team’s second straight top-five finish to start the fall season.

Coughlin set the new low score for Virginia with an 11-under 205 for the tournament, a title she took from former teammate Briana Mao, who posted a 10-under 206 at last year’s ACC Tournament. Coughlin’s round, a career-best, was good for second place in individual scoring, with only Alabama sophomore Lakareber Abe posting a lower score, a 12-under 204.

As a team, the Cavaliers wrapped up the weekend with their worst round of the tournament, a 10-over 298 to put the team aggregate score at 9-over 873, which tied them for fourth place with Houston. Alabama, Northwestern and Georgia finished ahead of Virginia, respectively.

Upon their return to Charlottesville, the 16th-ranked Cavaliers have almost three weeks off from competitive play before they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. Oct. 9 for the Tar Heel Invitational.
