The University will be launching a national search to fill the position of full-time Title IX coordinator.

Kelley Hodge, University Title IX coordinator and executive assistant to the president, will be resigning from her position effective May 13.

Hodge was hired last summer as the University’s first full-time Title IX Coordinator. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations that prohibit sex-based discrimination in education programs and activities at institutions that receive federal funds.

“The University deeply appreciates the time and commitment of Ms. Hodge as Title IX Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the President. For personal reasons, Ms. Hodge has decided it is necessary for her to return to her family in Philadelphia,” University spokesperson Anthony de Bruyn said in an email statement.

Hodge “provided welcomed leadership and support during a very critical time of change and growth under Title IX” and will remain part of the “fabric of U.Va,” de Bruyn said.

Hodge, an alumna of the University, said her colleagues will continue to address sex and gender-based harassment at the University.

“It has been a privilege to serve as the Title IX Coordinator and believe that my colleagues in the Title IX office are exemplary and will continue to work very diligently to address all issues of sex and gender -based harassment in this University setting,” Hodge said in an email statement. “As an alumnae [sic], I look forward to the commitment and progress the University will continue to make to promote the culture of care and support that I associate with being a part of the University of Virginia.”

The University will be launching a national search to fill the position.
