Sophomore midfielder Maggie Jackson scored three goals in Virginia's 17-10 loss to Boston College.

The No.15 Virginia women’s lacrosse team struggled to find the back of the net and fell to Boston College, 17-10, Saturday.

The Cavaliers, struggling to defend against the quick and efficient Eagles, found themselves in a scoring drought early in the first half. After trailing, 5-1, the Cavaliers bounced back and went on to score four consecutive goals.

Virginia was unable to keep up this streak however — ultimately being outscored for the rest of the first half — and left scoreless for much of the second half.

While the Cavaliers deviated from their solid play Saturday, sophomore midfielder Maggie Jackson was key in giving Virginia a fighting chance throughout the match. Leading the team with three goals, Jackson was also vital in keeping the Eagles defense guessing, helping her teammates find the back of the net with three key assists.

Jackson was also able to lead Virginia on the opposite side of the field — causing three turnovers and three ground ball recoveries.

The Cavaliers will look to recover from this loss as they face No. 1 Maryland at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Klöckner Stadium.
