Sullivan hosts sexual violence discussion

University President Teresa Sullivan hosted a reception Thursday in the Special Collections Library to discuss the issue of sexual violence at the University. The reception covered a variety of issues, including the implementation of mandatory campus safety classes for students, how to better support survivors of sexual violence as a community, and the issue of alcohol and partying.

Scheppach, Warbury, Skelley discuss election fallout

Batten Prof. Raymond Scheppach, Batten Prof. Gerry Warburg and Center for Politics spokesperson Geoffrey Skelley held a discussion in the Batten School Thursday following the strong Republican showing in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Huguely files state Supreme Court appeal

The appeal of former University student George Huguely V, who was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love in May 2012, also a University student at the time, went before the Virginia Supreme Court this week. The Court received the initial petition in April and the court record in June. A hearing was scheduled this week to determine whether the Court would hear the appeal.

Laycock discusses Holt v. Hobbs

The University Federalist Society hosted Law Prof. Douglas Laycock to discuss his involvement as a defense attorney in the Supreme Court case Holt v. Hobbs on Thursday.
