 The vigil began and ended on the steps of the courthouse. 
 Zyahna Bryant unveiled artist Robert Shetterly’s portrait of her during the event and read the inscription: “...I wrote the petition… calling for the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue and the renaming on the park, formerly known as Lee Park. I was 15.” The portrait hangs beside Shetterly’s painting of Sojourner Truth.  
 
An audience member challenged the panel with accusations that African American women from Charlottesville were not sufficiently represented.
