Charlottesville Police respond to armed robbery

Suspected forced entry and robbery on Brandon Avenue

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a reported robbery on the 600 block of Brandon Avenue this past weekend. The incident is still under investigation.

The victim reported “four black males forced their way in to his apartment as a friend was leaving," University Police Chief Michael Gibson said in an email to students.

The victim also stated the suspects then forced him on the floor and stole various items from the apartment.

Charlottesville Police spokesperson Steve Upman said police are still looking into the report.

“I don’t know any updates at this time,” he said.

The victim said all four suspects were wearing dark clothing and masks, and two or three of the suspects were armed.

Upman said the police are not releasing exactly what items were stolen or whether the victim was injured.

“[We’re] trying to keep their privacy,” Upman said. “We also typically don’t release a lot of information on what was stolen because that can sometimes affect the investigative process.”
