After emerging from a crucial road victory against No. 25 Pittsburg, the Virginia men’s basketball team will return home Thursday night seeking to extend its winning streak to six games versus Boston College.

Barnette to leave Cavs' basketball program

Virginia announced Wednesday that combo guard Taylor Barnette, a rising sophomore guard for the men’s basketball team, will transfer to seek more playing time and a larger share of the responsibilities at another school. “Taylor has informed me that he has decided to transfer from our program,” head coach Tony Bennett said.

Tobey earns U.S. U-19 World Championships nod

Virginia sophomore forward Mike Tobey emerged from a hyper-talented pool of prospective players to earn one of twelve spots on the United States U-19 men’s basketball team, which will head to Prague in the Czech Republic for the FIBA U-19 World Championships next week.

Virginia reaches 2011-12 Chick-fil-A Bowl, "Big Dance"

Neither the Virginia football team or basketball team roared out of the gate, but by the end of two whirlwind seasons, both found themselves playing on a stage that at one point seemed unattainable. London’s second season culminated in a New Year’s Eve matchup in front of 72,919 fans at the Georgia Dome in the Chick-fil-A bowl. Bennett, meanwhile, led Virginia to the Big Dance for the first time since 2007 while winning 22 games overall — the most in 29 years.
