Huntsman addresses students, faculty

Former Republican Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman spoke to students and faculty yesterday evening about current policy failures in the United State’s relationship with China in a forum moderated by Batten School Dean Harry Harding at the University Chapel.

Behrle, Nash send University-wide email

Present and past Honor Committee Chairs Evan Behrle and Stephen Nash, third and fourth-year College students, sent an e-mail to University students, faculty and staff yesterday afternoon sharing information about the Informed Retraction and Honor Committee bylaw amendments. Behrle said, “The fundamental purpose of the email [was] to provide legal notice to students” about the change to the Honor System.

Council announces incoming executive board

Student Council held its annual Transition Ceremony for the new president, vice president and representative body Monday evening at the Colonnade Club in Pavilion VII. Vice-President for Administration Annie Ungrady, a third-year College student, Vice-President for Organizations Neil Branch, a third-year College student, President Eric McDaniel, a third-year College student, and the Representative Body took their oaths of office before the outgoing Student Council executive committee and other current representatives.

Authorities investigate Charlottesville police shooting

The Charlottesville Commonwealth Attorney’s office is overseeing the Charlottesville Police Department in an investigation of a shooting involving two adult males and a police officer. The incident occurred Saturday morning shortly before 1 a.m. near the 100 block of Second Street NW, just off the Downtown Mall.

Albright visits University

Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State to President Bill Clinton, visited the Miller Center Monday evening to talk about her latest book, “Prague Winter: A Personal Story of Remembrance and War.” Albright, who now teaches diplomacy in the Foreign Service School at Georgetown University, also fielded questions on topics ranging from foreign aid and drones to her interview for her position in Clinton’s cabinet.
