First-Year Council elections ongoing

The first year class will vote this week to elect a class president and members of the First Year Council (FYC). The University Board of Elections (UBE) oversees the election, along with most student representative elections on grounds, said Krishna Korupolu, third-year College student and Chair of the UBE.

The Cavalier Marching Band was one of 10 bands selected out of a pool of 175 bands from across the country.

Cavalier Marching Band selected to play Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Cavalier Marching Band was selected last week to perform in the 2015 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The decision was made official when Parade Creative Director Wesley Whatley arrived in Charlottesville last Tuesday and presented CMB Director William Pease with the Macy’s Day drum head — the customary way to give a band a bid to perform in the parade.

Students, alumni to host ‘General Assembly’

A coalition of concerned students and alumni will host an open forum this Thursday in Wilson Hall to discuss pressing issues facing the University. The event aims to transform the energy from online campaigns SpeakUpUVa and #WeAreAllUVA into definitive action and structural change, ultimately making the University a more enjoyable and accessible community.

Student Council Representative Body releases manifesto

First-year College student Abraham Axler, chair of Student Council’s representative body, recently released what he termed a “Representative Manifesto” in an attempt to solve some of the productivity and communication problems which have plagued Student Council in the past.
