University Glee Club temporarily retires 'Rugby Road'

The University Glee Club announced last week that they would temporarily retire the song “Rugby Road” in the wake of the Rolling Stone article published Nov. 19 alleging a brutal gang rape by members of the University’s chapter of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity in Sept. 2012.

Student group aids Graham search effort

The Blue Ridge Mountain Rescue Group coordinated volunteer efforts last week in the city-wide search for missing second-year College student Hannah Graham, who was last seen early in the morning Sept. 13. More than a week later, members of the Contracted Independent Organization continue to help police search for Graham.

Meyer begins Architecture Dean tenure

Elizabeth Meyer began a two-year term as Dean of the Architecture school in July. Meyer, a long-time faculty member and graduate of the School of Architecture, succeeded Kim Tanzer as dean.

Goodwin has served as rector since 2015. 

BOV member Goodwin appointed Gillespie campaign co-chair

University of Virginia Board of Visitors member William H. Goodwin Jr. was appointed as a finance committee co-chair for Ed Gillespie’s senatorial campaign Wednesday. Gillespie, a communications consultant and former White House aide, is the likely Republican nominee for the Virginia seat in the Senate currently filled by Sen. Mark Warner.

Honor Congress draws 160 attendees

The Honor Committee’s Honor Congress drew more than 160 attendees to the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library Thursday evening. Outgoing Honor Chair Evan Behrle said the turnout speaks to the enduring importance of the Honor system to the University community.
