Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring submitted the report and recommendations from the Task Force on Combating Campus Sexual Violence to Governor McAuliffe Thursday. The recommendations are the product of an 8 month-long initiative to reexamine the current campus safety and preventive measures on sexual assault, in an effort to make substantive improvements.

The University Institute of World Languages kicked off its second film series Wednesday, an effort which will feature a host of movies — each in a different language with English subtitles — over the course of the semester. The Institute began the series with a panel discussion, featuring scenes from movies pertaining to diverse global filmic encounters.

Twenty sculptures line public plots on Charlottesville roads, a culmination of the city's effort to make art more publically accessible. The sculptures — 10 permanent structures and 10 placed for a one-year period — are hosted by ArtInPlace, a non-profit corporation which has been working since 2001.

In an effort to soothe international tensions and strengthen U.S.-China economic relations, President Barack Obama announced a new reciprocity agreement between the two countries Monday. As part of the deal, the United States will extend the validity of Chinese student visas up to five years and business and tourist visas up to 10 years, rather than the one-year visas which were previously available.
