Fairfax County Schools Superintendent Karen Garza proposed a budget Thursday night allocating $70 million to fund teacher pay raises. The budget also makes $55 million in cuts through reduced costs for health insurance, power and fuel and employee turnover.
Transgender Rights advocate Scott Schofield spoke at a vigil Thursday for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, co-hosted by Sigma Omicron Rho, the first gender-neutral fraternity on Grounds, and the Queer Student Union. Schofield invoked support for those affected by acts of violence against the transgender community.
Now four month's into the 2014-15 fiscal year, University administrators are ironing out the kinks in a new budget model, which is shadowing the existing model this year before being fully implemented July 1.
