HBO’s “Girls” closed out its fifth season Sunday with a special two-episode finale: “Love Stories” and “I Love You Baby.” Though the girls — and guys — have had their fair share of ups and downs this season, this satisfying conclusion sets them on the path to becoming self-actualized adults and gives them wide open storylines for the final season.

“Homeward Bound,” the newest installment of “Girls,” was a disappointment. Though there was substantial plot development, as well as pleasant pacing and aesthetic quality, the episode felt unbelievable and untrue to its characters.

The men of “Girls” are consistently charming and quirky, but the series’ newest episode, “Good Man,” really gives them a chance to shine. Season five’s second installment follows several of its leading men in search of love.

Lena Dunham’s HBO original series “Girls” had a slump in its fourth season, but if Sunday night’s premiere is any indication of things to come, the show may be back and better than ever.

After Zayn Malik announced his departure from One Direction in March, it seemed that the international act might cease to exist as the pop powerhouse it has become. Now a four-piece, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have put to rest any doubt with their fifth studio album “Made in the A.M” out last Friday. Released following confirmations of the group’s extended hiatus, “Made in the A.M.” may be One Direction’s swan song — if it is, they are going out on a high note.
