A bowl of candy and a horror movie may be the quickest way to get in the Halloween spirit in a pinch, but there’s also a wealth of TV series out there that capture the essence of the spooky season and offer a welcome change of pace. The amount of options can be a little overwhelming, especially when everyone has a different threshold for fright.

Tucked away on the third floor of Clemons Library, the Robertson Media Center has a treasure trove of creative technology resources available for free to University students and staff. Its spaces include audio and video recording studios, a 3D printing studio, virtual reality spaces and computer labs. Forget about hitting the books — there are albums to record, documentaries to film and cartoons to animate, all in the library.

Summer brings more free time than some students know what to do with. Luckily, books offer a compelling solution to the monotonous, hot, lazy summer days or draining internships can bring. Beach books especially — approachable, captivating reads guaranteed to suck you in — are staples of the season for a reason. Throw them in your tote bag with sunscreen and a snack to devour. Flip through them with your toes in the sand or read them from your childhood bedroom.

From picking up a new diet to hitting the gym, the month of January is usually filled with attempts at self-improvement before everyone loses steam on their New Year’s resolutions. Though these attempts at external change are admirable, they’re often too short-lived to cause real change. Luckily, there’s another type of improvement you can strive for in the new year – internal change.

Taylor Swift’s “Red (Taylor’s Version)” has already established itself as a smashing success. In less than two weeks, the album has received critical acclaim, launched a 10-minute song to the top of the Billboard charts and provided fans with fodder for speculation regarding Swift's relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

While everyone has their own idea of when the holiday season begins, nobody can deny that turning up the Christmas classics too soon will lead to burnout before the 12 days of Christmas even begin. But that doesn’t stop the nostalgia for hot cocoa and tree decorating from creeping in early. This playlist brings the holiday vibes — warmth, old-fashioned crooning and even some jingle bells — without any actual commitment to Christmas, making it the perfectly acceptable musical segue into the holiday season before December rolls around.

“To All the Boys: Always and Forever” premiered Feb. 12 on Netflix. It is the third installation in the movie series based on Jenny Han’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” books. It’s the most wonderful time of the year — Hallmark Christmas movie time. One of the only times in which it is encouraged to hunker down with an ugly Christmas sweater and a cable movie marathon. Admittedly, beginning their Countdown to Christmas Oct. 24 feels a bit overeager. But an early start is necessary to produce the 30-plus movies they crank out each season between the channels. Hallmark movies are the pinnacle of the holiday season — a warm, cozy and never-ending stream of joy to brighten up the cold months of November and December.
