The No. 2 Virginia men’s basketball team headed into Saturday afternoon facing its biggest test of the season against No. 4 Duke. The top-five showdown between the two ACC rivals lived up to the hype, with the Cavaliers (20-1, 9-0 ACC) pulling out a tightly-contested 65-63 win over the Blue Devils (18-3, 6-3 ACC) in a nail-biter.

After going an outstanding 11-1 in non-conference play to start the season, the No. 2 Virginia men’s basketball team has seemingly gotten even better in ACC play, having won its first five games to sit at 5-0 and atop the ACC standings as the only undefeated team. The Cavaliers’ strong performances against conference foes has included wins over in-state rival Virginia Tech, then No. 12 North Carolina and most recently an NC State team that was coming off back-to-back wins over Top 25 teams. Virginia (16-1, 5-0 ACC) has won all three of those games by double digits.

The Virginia football team traveled to Annapolis, Md. this week to play in their first bowl game since 2011. The Cavaliers (6-7, 3-5 ACC) were looking to take down Navy Thursday to cap off their season with a winning record, but fell flat against a Midshipmen (7-6, 4-4 AAC) team that dominated throughout, winning 49-7.

After a huge victory over Georgia Tech to clinch bowl eligibility, the Virginia football team headed to Louisville, Ky. looking to pick up some momentum as the end of the season draws near. However, Louisville junior quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals proved to be too much, as Virginia (6-4, 3-3 ACC) fell to Louisville (6-4, 3-3 ACC) by a score of 38-21.

After a two-game skid that saw them drop from 5-1 to 5-3, the Virginia football team snapped out of its funk in thrilling fashion, defeating Georgia Tech 40-36 in a rain-filled, down-to-the-wire stunner. In the process, the Cavaliers (6-3, 3-2 ACC) clinched a bowl berth for the first time since 2011, despite failing to do so in the previous two weekends.
