The Department of Media Studies announced its acceptance decisions for the spring application cycle March 1. The department received 175 applications, 135 of which were accepted — a 77 percent acceptance rate. This is a decrease from last year’s acceptance rate, which was 81 percent.

A panel held by the U.Va. Black Faculty and Staff Employee Resource Group on Thursday discussed the impact of COVID-19 on the Black community, issues concerning distrust and misinformation about the vaccine, ways of increasing accessibility to it and steps for moving forward. The Resource Group serves as a representative voice for Black faculty and staff on academic and intellectual issues as well as emotional betterment within and beyond the University community.

The School of Education and Human Development held a panel focused on addressing barriers to equitable distance learning Thursday. The panel discussed how to address the barriers to distance learning, such as lack of broadband networks in many rural areas and affordability, faced by millions of students in the United States.

111 new cases of COVID-19 in the University community have been reported since Monday, of which 100 are student cases, according to the University’s COVID-19 Tracker. The average number of cases this week has been approximately 27.75 cases per day — a slight increase from last week’s average of 23 cases per day. This data was collected through UVA Health Analytics, Student Health, Employee Health and LetsGetChecked.
