Of all the Oscar ceremonies I’ve seen in my days, this year’s turned out to be the greatest fashion disappointment yet. Bigger was apparently better at the 85th annual Academy Awards — a maxim which applied as equally to the fashion choices as it did to host Seth McFarlane’s inappropriate humour.

After a full day of boutique hopping, I settled down in my friend’s trendy New York apartment, winding down while browsing the BBC on my laptop. After some time, I stole a glance at my friend’s screen and saw something straight out of my wildest fashion fantasies — photos upon photos of girls dressed in beautiful, attention-grabbing outfits. This was my first glimpse at Carolines Mode, a fashion blog created by Swede Caroline Blomst to capture the street style of Stockholm.

I don’t know what it is about USA’s Suits that makes me wish I had cable TV in my apartment. Is it the impeccable custom-made suits that Harvey and fellow lawyer, and once scrub, Mike wear that make my heart melt? Is it the drama that is the Pearson-Hardman law firm? Or even the ill-fated romance of Mike and the sexy paralegal, Rachel? All I know is that I was more than ready for season two to start up earlier this month right where it had left off before its hiatus that began in August.

Graduate Arts & Sciences student Matthew Steven King was killed yesterday in a cycling accident on West Main Street and Fourth Street NW at about 9:05 a.m. A Charlottesville utility truck collided with King, who then was transported to the University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 a.m. because of injuries sustained from the accident, University spokesperson Carol Wood said.

Despite a national trend in which universities across the nation are expanding the amount of students placed on respective waitlists, the University has decided to significantly lower its waitlist pool for the class of 2014.

President John T. Casteen, III was named last Friday as the commencement speaker for the class of 2010. As he sends off the graduates, he will be moving on with them.

The Board of Visitors approved a new Master's degree program in Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies Feb. 25 during a meeting of the Educational Policy Committee. The degree will require students to take 30 credit hours related to the Middle East or South Asia.
