After defeating UC Berkeley and then-No. 9 Texas A&M at the ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 26 and 27, No. 13 Virginia men’s tennis (5-1, 1-1 ACC) headed to South Bend, Ind., Friday to face the No. 11 Notre Dame (6-0, 1-0 ACC).

This past weekend, the McArthur Squash Center at Boar’s Head Sports Club hosted the Mid-Atlantic Championships for both the men’s and women’s squash teams. Both teams went undefeated in the tournament, sending them into the top 10 leading into the Virginia Home Round Robin this weekend.

With 5:35 left in the game, then-No. 4 Virginia was tied with unranked in-state rival VCU, 43-43 — a game they were supposed to win big. But things were beginning to turn in the Cavaliers’ favor. Junior guard Ty Jerome hit a three-pointer, helping the Cavaliers come back from a five-point deficit against the Rams.

Just a year ago, Danielle Collins was playing in a WTA Oracle Challenger Series tournament in Newport Beach, having been eliminated in the third qualifying round of the Australian Open. Now, after a meteoric rise, the 25-year-old has a chance to become the first-ever Cavalier to play in a Grand Slam final.

After a two-month break, the four-time NCAA Champion No. 17 Virginia men’s tennis team (2-0, 1-0 ACC) started off its 2019 campaign with strong showings against William and Mary Jan. 17 and Louisville Jan. 20.

After a winter hiatus, Virginia squash headed to Annapolis, Md., this past weekend for matches against Williams College and Dickinson College. However, due to a winter storm, the matches against Dickinson College were canceled and will not be rescheduled.

This past weekend, the No.12 Virginia men’s squash (5-4) and No. 12 women’s squash (6-5) teams traveled up to New York City for a three-day tournament against Cornell, Fordham, NYU and Columbia.

To kick off its fall season, the 2018 ACC Champion Virginia women’s rowing team headed to Boston to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta Oct. 20 and 21— one of the largest rowing competitions in the world. This year, the event hosted just under 11,000 competitors, ranging from high school division to master’s division, and the Cavaliers finished in fifth place.
