The Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors will meet virtually Friday at 11 a.m. for a workshop on proposed undergraduate tuition and fee increases, according to an announcement released Nov. 6. The Committee will also hear public comment at the workshop — individuals can register to provide comment by emailing boardofvisitors@virginia.edu until Thursday at 5 p.m.

The University has received the preliminary report on the external review of the Nov. 13 shooting from Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, per an update sent Friday. In the wake of the Supreme Court of the United States’ Thursday morning ruling that Harvard’s and University of North Carolina’s affirmative action policies are unconstitutional, the University is still evaluating how the court’s decision will affect its admission policies, said University President Jim Ryan and Ian Baucom, executive vice president and provost in a joint email statement to the University community.

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired incident Saturday at 1:51 a.m. in the 600 block of Cabell Avenue, per a community alert sent Sunday morning by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety. This report was followed shortly after by a burglary, reported Saturday at 3:27 a.m. in the 200 block of 14th Street NW.

The Princeton Review ranked the University No. 2 on its list of “Top 50 Best Value Colleges” annual report comparing public schools. The University ranked No. 3 in the previous year. An internal investigation into the fatal accident at the University’s Contemplative Commons project site has found that the construction worker’s death was due to a safety violation on the victim’s part, according to Director of Facilities Management Mark Stanis. The full Hourigan safety report will not be released to the public.

A fire broke out at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house Thursday night, per an alert from the U.Va. Emergency Alert system sent at 10:06 p.m. No injuries have been reported. Photos and videos obtained by The Cavalier Daily showed the fire had caught in a room filled with what appeared to be packing peanuts.

19-year-old Isaiah Anderson was arrested Monday in connection to a disorder with a weapon incident that occurred at Runk Dining Hall Feb. 17. Anderson was charged with brandishing a firearm and the unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon, per a release from Deputy Chief of Police Bryant Hall.
