North Korea must pay over $500 million in damages to the family of the late University of Virginia student Otto Warmbier, a federal judge ruled Monday. Warmbier died following 17 months of imprisonment in the country, which led his parents to file a lawsuit in April against the rogue nation for the “hostage taking, illegal detention, torture and killing” of their son.

The University issued trespass warnings to 10 alleged white supremacist protesters Friday afternoon, banning the individuals from all University property for four years. Officials believe the individuals each participated in at least one violent demonstration in Charlottesville in 2017 — either the torch-lit march across Grounds on Aug. 11 or the “Unite the Right” rally in downtown Charlottesville on Aug. 12.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered Saturday night at a U.Va. Students United rally against white supremacy and an increased police presence in Charlottesville this weekend. Originally planned for the North Plaza of the Rotunda, the protest quickly relocated to the grass triangle beside Brooks Hall and eventually moved down Rugby Road.

A group of masked individuals calling themselves the “The Otherwise Society” gathered by the Thomas Jefferson statue at the Rotunda Friday for what appeared to be an anti-Nazi demonstration. After much controversy, the University announced at a Board of Visitors meeting Wednesday that it is no longer proposing to construct a softball stadium at Lambeth Field. Instead, U.Va. will continue to investigate three alternative locations — the University Hall parking lot, a soccer practice field near Klöckner Stadium and the Park, located on North Grounds.

Charlottesville Police announced Thursday that they do not suspect criminal activity resulted in the death of city resident Molly Miller. She was reported missing last Saturday and found dead in her King Street home Monday.
