The Inter-Fraternity Council released a statement Tuesday afternoon regarding the recent terminations of the Fraternal Organization Agreements of the University’s Sigma Nu and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity chapters. In a short statement, the IFC expressed disappointment in the behavior a University investigation uncovered.

A Virginia Court of Appeals affirmed today the second-degree murder conviction of former University student and varsity lacrosse player George Huguely. In 2012, Huguely was found guilty in the 2010 murder of fellow University student Yeardley Love.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. Monday, the University Board of Elections voting website, www.uvavote.com, experienced “unplanned downtime” that was likely a crash due to heavy traffic. According to the Board, the occurrence prevented some students from voting during a two-hour window Monday morning, but did not alter votes which were already cast.

The ACC proved to be just as top-heavy in football as pundits predicted — the conference went 5-6 overall in bowls, but captured a pair of BCS wins, including the National Championship. The No. 7 Virginia field hockey team fell to No. 10 Massachusetts in overtime Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, ending its season. The Minutewomen did not lead at all during regulation, but they found an equalizer in the final minutes and scored a golden goal in the first overtime period to eliminate the Cavaliers.

The No. 1 women’s soccer team and the No. 4 field hockey team each earned at-large bids to their respective NCAA tournaments. Both teams suffered early exits from the ACC Tournament during the weekend, but the women’s soccer team was still awarded the No. 1 overall seed, and the field hockey team was awarded the fifth overall seed. The top four seeds in both tournaments all went to ACC teams.
