The No. 3 Virginia women’s rowing team competed in the Pac-12 Challenge this weekend in Redwood Shores, Calif., taking home 10 wins in 12 races. The Cavaliers opened the season March 15-16 at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, where they won all 21 races.

Despite light sleet and near constant rainfall during the weekend, the Virginia women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the three-day Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summitt, N.C. The Cavaliers, who won last year’s event, climbed five spots in the final day to complete a 54-hole total of 45-over 909.

The Virginia women’s golf team traveled to Hilton Head, S.C. and Gainesville, Fla. during Spring Break to compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the SunTrust Gator Invitational. The Cavaliers finished 13th and sixth, respectively.

Finally back on the water after a long winter, the No. 5 Virginia women’s rowing team opened the spring season this weekend in Tennessee at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational. The Cavaliers swept the 21 races they competed in across the two-day event, a great start for their bid to win the NCAA title for the third time in five years.

Racing for the first time since November, the No. 5 Virginia women’s rowing team hits the water March 15 at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational to open the spring season. Two years removed from a national championship, the Cavaliers will try to make a statement against a field of teams which includes three other top-20 teams.

The No. 1 Virginia men’s tennis team begins the defense of its 2013 NCAA Championship this weekend as it hosts the first four matches of its season, all at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Up first is a Friday bout with Elon, followed by a Saturday match with either Indiana or Samford as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, which leads up to the ITA Indoor Championships. Virginia then faces Boston College and Navy Sunday in a pair of regular season matches.

After defeating Maryland, the Virginia volleyball team locked arms and sang the “Good Ol’ Song” one last time Saturday night, wrapping up the 2013 season. The Cavaliers split their last two matches, falling 3-1 against Pittsburgh Friday before beating the Terrapins 3-1.

No matter what University sport is discussed, few achievements can match the feeling of beating the rivals from Blacksburg. The Cavalier volleyball team has now done it twice in one season for the first time since 2005, defeating Virginia Tech 3-1 Sunday afternoon after sweeping Notre Dame 3-0 Friday night.

After splitting its last two matches, the Virginia volleyball team paid a visit to NC State and No. 15 North Carolina this weekend seeking revenge for a pair of 3-0 losses earlier in the season. The Cavaliers came up short in their quest, however, falling 3-2 to the Wolfpack and 3-1 to the Tar Heels.

Despite playing without one of its most important veterans, the Virginia volleyball team scored a pair of five-set match wins against Georgia Tech and Clemson this weekend. With the victories, the Cavaliers (14-10, 7-5 ACC) moved above .500 in the ACC for the first time since 2009, and have won four straight conference matches for the first time since 2006.

With a number of past players in attendance for Homecomings weekend, the Virginia volleyball team defeated conference foe Notre Dame 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Charlottesville. The team celebrated getting a win for their former teammates by singing the Good Ol’ Song on the court with them after the match.
