	Junior Payton Hazzard won both the 200 and 400-meter dashes Saturday, as well as running anchor on the first-place men’s 4×400-meter relay. His 46.93 mark in the 400-meter dash is among the top-five fastest national times this season.

Saturday, Lannigan Field was the scene for a showdown between three of the nation’s finest public universities. Both the Virginia men’s and women’s track teams placed second in the tri-meet — a vast improvement from last year’s showing in Berkeley, Calif.

Track and field hosts No. 24 California, Michigan

The showdown between Virginia, California and Michigan in a tri-meet this Saturday at Lannigan Field will mark the second leg of a three-year series between the top-flight public universities — an idea which can be traced back to the first meeting between University President Teresa Sullivan, the former Provost and Vice President at Michigan, and coach Bryan Fetzer.

Lavender, others shine against elite competition

Virginia track and field concluded a weekend of stiff competition at the “Doc” Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet, competing among a field including two ranked men’s teams and three top-10 women’s teams. The meet featured several strong performances from Cavalier athletes, including a record-breaking effort in the 200-meter dash by junior Jordan Lavender.

Cavaliers compete at ACC track championships

The Virginia men’s and women’s track teams competed this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina at the ACC Championships. The action concluded Saturday with the Cavalier women in a tie for fourth place with 76 points and the men in sixth place with 63 points.

Track and field hosts Virginia Invitational

After completing a quick tune up last Saturday at the Virginia Cup, the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will host seven teams for the Virginia Invitational this Saturday at Lannigan Field. The Cavaliers will be facing some elite competition in Charlotte, Georgetown, Loyola, Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State and Robert Morris.
