Following a successful regular season showing that placed No. 14 Virginia men’s soccer second In the ACC Coastal Division, the Cavaliers (9-4-3, 5-1-2 ACC) will enter the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament as the conference’s No. 3 seed. Virginia will play host to No. 6 seed Pittsburgh for its quarterfinal clash on Sunday, with the Panthers (8-3-5, 3-2-3 ACC) coming into this contest off the back of a 4-1 first-round victory over NC State Wednesday.

Over the last decade, Virginia men’s basketball has defined winning in collegiate athletics. They have won on the conference level, toppling the Atlantic Coast Conference five times in the regular season and twice in the tournament. They have won on the national level, battling to an NCAA Tournament National Championship in 2019. They have won in just about every possible metric since Coach Tony Bennett took the reins in 2009, having amassed 316 wins to just 117 losses during his 13 years at the helm.

In the final regular season fixture at Klöckner Stadium in 2022, No. 24 Virginia men’s soccer picked up a 1-0 victory over No. 25 Wake Forest Saturday night. The clean sheet for the Cavaliers (9-4-2, 5-1-1 ACC) marked their seventh of the campaign, and just the second time all season the Demon Deacons (12-4, 4-3 ACC) had been shut out.

In the 93rd clash between two historic ACC programs, No. 21 Virginia men’s soccer and No. 2 Duke fought to a 0-0 stalemate Friday at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville. It was a matchup between the ACC Coastal Division’s finest, with the Blue Devils (8-0-3, 3-0-2 ACC) entering and leaving in first place in the division and sitting just one point above the second-place Cavaliers (7-4-1, 3-1-1 ACC).

Virginia men’s soccer saw a nice run of form come to a close Friday, falling to Notre Dame 2-1 at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville. It was a chance for the Cavaliers (4-3, 1-1 ACC) to earn their fifth consecutive victory at Klöckner Stadium, but the Fighting Irish (2-2-1, 1-1 ACC) were too much for the ACC’s highest-scoring side to handle.

The right bleachers of Klöckner Stadium will be infiltrated by a swarm of Chicago maroon and burnt orange this Friday evening. The left side, soon to be filled with a different shade of orange, will look to drown out the stripes of the former. On the field, Virginia men’s soccer (2-2, ACC) and Virginia Tech (0-3-1, ACC) will engage in yet another Commonwealth Clash. This time, it will be for the right to a 1-0 start in the ACC.

Revenge was on the mind of Virginia men’s soccer on Thursday night, as the Cavaliers (2-1, 0-0 ACC) squared off against in-state rival James Madison (1-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) in the third non-conference affair of each team’s young season. Virginia’s 20-game unbeaten streak against the Dukes came to a close last season when James Madison upset the Cavaliers in a nail-biting 1-0 double overtime victory, but in a convincing performance Thursday, Virginia made sure lightning didn’t strike twice.

On a warm summer night in Charlottesville, the Virginia men’s soccer team faced off against Xavier for its opening game of the season Thursday. The Cavaliers (0-1-0, ACC 0-0-0) displayed impressive control of the game until its final few minutes, when the Musketeers (1-0-0) capitalized on their third shot of the game.

Virginia track and field paid a visit to Philadelphia, last weekend for the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Cavaliers had their hands full for a meet that welcomed nearly 200 universities from across 33 states, but Virginia still came away successful across a variety of events.

Virginia track and field hosted several schools — including nine other ACC programs — from across the country for the Virginia Challenge, with the meet beginning Thursday in Lannigan Field. The Cavaliers rose through the packed field to come away with a number of successes by the event’s conclusion Saturday.

Virginia track and field journeyed to Durham, N.C. last week for the Duke Invitational. The meet began Thursday and came to a close Saturday, with the Cavaliers impressing on all three days. Although the invitational was not scored on a team basis, Virginia still had a plethora of impressive results, continuing the strong season for the Cavaliers.

Virginia track and field made the in-state trip to Williamsburg last week for the Colonial Relays, a three-day event beginning on Thursday. Despite only the field portion of the team competing in the relays — which includes pole vaulting and different throwing events — Virginia was still able to compete for the overall title. By the time they departed Saturday, the Cavaliers had won the 38-school women’s competition with a total of 80 points, and also finished eighth on the men’s side with a 41-point showing.

Virginia track and field traveled to Raleigh, N.C. last week to compete in the Raleigh Relays. Beginning Thursday and concluding Saturday, the three-day meet welcomed dozens of schools from across the country for what was by far the most competitive event the Cavaliers took part in this season.

Five Virginia track and field athletes traveled to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend to compete in three events at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. While not as strong in numbers as several other schools at the event, the Cavaliers returned to Charlottesville with a successful showing.
