News in Brief

Washingtonian Magazine's November issue named two of the University's professors, Philip Zelikow and William Quandt, among the 71 "wise men" to whom President Bush should listen.

The article, by Drew Lindsay, lists experts who have the experience and knowledge to serve as useful advisers to President Bush in the new war against terrorism.

Zelikow, director of the Miller Center for Public Affairs and a professor of history, is named among the list's diplomats. He served on the staff of the National Security Council as manager of the Gulf War coalition and in the State Department under President George H.W. Bush

Quandt, vice provost for international affairs and a professor of foreign affairs, is named among the list's regional/foreign-policy experts. He served on the National Security Council during the Nixon and Carter administrations.
