A private partnership bought Loan Oak farm on Wednesday, which is part of the land donated to the University by John W. Kluge.
There are four houses and three barns on the 1,392-acre Albemarle County farm, which was purchased for $3.35 million.
Four weeks ago, the Dave Matthews Band paid $5.3 million to buy five Kluge farms.
The University will use the money gained from these purchases to take care of Morven Farms, the core property of the Kluge estate.
Graduate Student Union may affiliate with CWA
Members of the University's Graduate Student Union are one step closer to affiliating with a national labor union.
The union has voted to affiliate with the Communications Workers of America, said Daniela Bell, a fourth-year graduate student in the College of Arts and Sciences. Bell said the vote did not finalize the affiliation.
"We still need to get leadership together within the Graduate Student Union," she said.
After the group organizes a leadership structure, the leaders will meet with members of CWA to craft a formal affiliation, she added.
The details of the affiliation will then be shown to the members of the union who will vote to accept or reject it, Bell said.
