Free Monticello tours for students

Students of Mr. Jefferson's University will be able to visit and explore his home this weekend and all on a college budget.

Monticello will be open for free tours Saturday Feb. 9 that will be available to all University students.

Buses to the home will depart from the Chemistry Building every 30 minutes between 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Students must present their University ID cards when boarding the bus, while students driving to the estate should show their IDs to Monticello personnel at the Information Center.

Jefferson described his home as an "essay in architecture" and Monticello is the only American home on the World Heritage list maintained by the United Nations.

The Office of Orientation and New Student Programs and the Parents Program sponsor the event.
