Snow fall has major impact on region

Local and state leaders across the area have dealt with the weekend snowstorm in very different ways.

While University students returned to class, a day after the first weather-related cancellation in seven years, other college students across the state had another day off. James Madison University and Longwood University remained closed today.

Charlottesville particularly was hit hard by the snowstorm, and Charlottesville public schools were closed yesterday for the second straight day.

The University hospital did not close or reduce hours during the storm, Hospital Spokesperson Marquerite Beck said.
