Funding increased for bioterrorism preparedness

The Commonwealth of Virginia will see an increase in federal funding this year to help prepare for bioterrorism attacks. This funding is part of the federal budget for the fiscal year ending in the fall 2003.

Approximately $19.6 million of the federal funds allocated for bioterrorism research will go toward public health funding in the Commonwealth, and $11.9 million will be allotted to Virginia
