Reward for serial rapist quadrupled

The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the serial rapist has been quadrupled, representatives from the city, county and University announced Friday. The original reward of $5,000 was posted by the Jefferson Area Crime Stoppers. The city, county and University each have pledged an additional $5,000 to bring the total reward to $20,000.

The rapist is responsible for a series of attacks in Charlottesville and one in Waynesboro. He is described as a medium- to dark-complected black male, six feet tall with "slightly bulging" or "unnaturally white" eyes.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Jefferson Area Crime Stoppers at 977-4000 or the Charlottesville Police Department at 970-3280.
