Online Council application system leaves groups without CIO status

As student groups attempt to entice first years into membership with free cups and promises of fun and fellowship, approximately 150 student groups find themselves surprisingly bereft of their status as a Contracted Independent Organization. Student Council officials said the culprit is a new online system designed to allow student groups to apply and reapply for CIO status online.

The system was intended to reduce paperwork for Council and to make the submission process more convenient for CIOs.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond.
