Former U.Va. student Jens Soering was denied parole this weekend, and will remain in jail serving two life sentences. Soering was convicted in 1990 for the 1986 murder of his ex-girlfriends parents; Soering maintains his innocence in the crime. His ex-girlfriend pled guilty as an accessory and was sentenced to 90 years in jail. 36-year-old Soering was informed this weekend that his parole request had been denied by the state board. The former Jefferson Scholar will not be eligible for parole again until 2006, although he is appealing this time frame.
