Parents convicted of providing alcohol sentenced to 27 months

Albermarle County residents George and Elisa Robinson each were sentenced to 27 months in jail Wednesday for providing alcohol to minors at a party last summer. The pair previously had received an eight year sentence from a lower court, but the 27 month sentence is two years longer than prosecutors requested. They are expected to appeal the decision.

According to prosecutors, the Robinsons provided $350 worth of alcohol for their son's 16th birthday party last summer. Further, according to prosecutors, they took keys from only a small number of the teens in attendance, and encouraged party-goers to gargle vinegar so that alcohol could not be detected on their breath. The Robinsons apologized in court for their actions.
