UTS bus allegedly runs student on bicycle off road

About 10 a.m. Monday morning, a University Transit Service bus allegedly ran fourth-year College student Eliza Evans off her bicycle and onto the curb in front of the McCormick Road Residence Area.

An eyewitness helped Evans up and told her that the bus was #2636 and advised her to report it.

Evans suffered a skinned elbow and two skinned knees, several cuts and bruises and a hurt shoulder.

Evans said she was in shock, so she went home. She did, however, call UTS to report the suspected accident. Evans said UTS offered to pay for any medical expenses she incurred due to injuries she sustained.

Evans went to Student Health Tuesday morning because her shoulder still hurt. She said Student Health gave her pain medication for what they ascertained was a sprained shoulder.

Anna Perron, University Transit Service evening supervisor, said as of last night she had no documentation of such an incident occurring. Beyond that, she had no further comment. UTS Director David Kloss was unavailable for comment yesterday.
