Two more persons were arrested in "Operation Spring Break Down" this week, bringing the official total number of arrests in the drug bust to 17.
College student Adam Reid Silver was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana.
Charlottesville resident John Francis Feeney was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of distribution of marijuana.
Both arrests took place in Charlottesville, though police declined to provide more details.
The 17 arrests stem from indictments issued to 33 persons by a grand jury in August for alleged involvement in the illegal sale of narcotics and drugs, following more than a year of investigation by the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement Task Force.
One other College student arrested as a result of the JADE task force investigation was not included among the 33 indicted persons. Currently, 10 University students have been arrested in the wake of the operation.
Lt. Don Campbell, coordinator of the JADE task force, said the late arrests are part of a continuing effort that police hope will result in the apprehension of all those indicted.
"Some of the ones we're looking for, we'll take our time and when we think it's strategically appropriate to arrest them, we will," Campbell said. "We're going to arrest them all eventually -- they're fugitives."
All but three of the 17 suspects already arrested are not currently in the Albemarle/Charlottesville Regional Jail. No trial dates have been set for any arrested suspects.
Charlottesville Police Sgt. Cheryl Smith said the operation is far from over.
"We're absolutely still working on it," she said. "The investigation and the indictment service are both ongoing."
