Congressional candidate Al Weed opens Charlottesville office

Democratic 5th district congressional candidate Al Weed announced Friday the opening of a new campaign office at 300 West Main Street in Charlottesville. Previously, the campaign office was a small space located in the nearby Glass Building on Garrett Street.

Weed is challenging incumbent Rep. Virgil Goode of Rocky Mount, Va., for the 5th district's seat.

"The move was inevitable," volunteer coordinator Diana Abbott said in a press release. "The campaign has been growing at such a rate that we knew our old office space wouldn't be able to contain us for very long. We now have ample space for all of our staff members, plus more than ample room for volunteer activities, meetings and campaign events."

Weed hails from Nelson County and is a farmer who also served more than 42 years in the United States Army as a special operations reservist.
