Foundation hands out awards in honor of Founder's birthday

In honor of what would have been Thomas Jefferson's 261st birthday yesterday, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation awarded its annual medals in Architecture and Law.

The Foundation awarded the Architecture medal to Peter Walker, the winner of the competition to design the World Trade Center Memorial.

J. Harvie William, the former Chief Judge of the Richmond-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, earned the Foundation's Law Medal.
