U.Va. announces death of Medical student Juliana Porter

Porter died Sunday evening in Albemarle County car accident

University Medical student Juliana Porter died Sunday evening in a car accident in Albemarle County, the University announced Monday.

Originally from Norfolk, Va., Porter was a member of the School of Medicine’s class of 2017. She was a volunteer at the Virginia Institute of Autism and was deeply involved in the Christian Medical Students Association. Prior to attending the University, Porter attended Davidson College, graduating with a degree in biology in 2012.

A celebration of Porter’s life will be planned by “members of the School of Medicine family,” according to a release from Dean of Students Allen Groves. No details about the event are yet available.

Porter is survived by her parents, Kent and Anne Porter, her younger brother and sister, her fiance, and other family and friends.
