A jury will hear University student Martese Johnson’s $3 million lawsuit against Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control next October.
Earlier this fall Johnson, a fourth-year in the College, filed a civil suit against the agency, its director and the three officers involved in his March 19 arrest, which put him in the hospital for head wound requiring 10 stitches.
The lawsuit cites false arrest, excessive force, failure to train and assault and battery among other counts against ABC, Director Shawn Walker, and three agents on the scene at the time of the arrest.
The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 3 and last five days according to court documents.
