Charlottesville Police responded Sunday to a call for “shots fired” in the Corner area at approximately 2:22 a.m., according to a press release from the Charlottesville Police Department.
“There were no victims or witnesses on scene and at this time it does not appear that any property was struck,” the release reads.
Officers located several firearm shell casings in the area of the 1400 block of University Avenue.
The University sent an alert advising of an active shooter on the Corner at 2:28 a.m.. An all-clear alert was then sent at 2:51 a.m., once it was determined there was no longer a potential threat.
“Shots fired at University Corner,” said the initial alert.”Shelter in place.”
Charlottesville Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
