​University second-year student Paul Kim dies after surgery

Kim died Tuesday in his home following apparent complications

University second-year student Paul Kim died Tuesday due to apparent complications following surgery, University Dean of Students Allen Groves announced in a Wednesday email to the University community.

Kim, who transferred to the University after a year at Christopher Newport University, was a resident of Weedon House. He was involved in the Johnson Malone Weedon Community Council and Chi Alpha, a Christian fraternal organization.

Kim hoped to study in the McIntire School of Commerce as part of his plan to pursue economics, finance and international business. He also planned to study Korean.

Funeral services have not yet been confirmed, Groves said. 

He also said any student in need of support should contact Counseling and Psychological Services.
