Board of Visitors selects Phoebe Willis as new student member

Willis is U.Va. graduate and current second-year Law student

The Board of Visitors have selected Phoebe Willis, a second-year Law student, as its new student member for the 2016-17 school year.

Willis received a B.A. in History from the University, where she was also a member of the varsity field hockey team. During her time as an undergraduate, Willis received the Ernest Ern Award for her service to the community and the ACC Top VI Award.

After graduation, Willis was a member of the Teach for America Corps and taught sixth grade reading and STEM classes at an all-male charter school in Philadelphia, PA.

Willis is actively involved with the University Athletics Department, the Student Bar Association, the Post-Graduate Trustees and the Lambda Law Alliance.

Professionally, Willis is interested in corporate law, and has accepted a position in with Skadden Arps in Washington, D.C., for this summer.

She will replace outgoing student member Daniel Judge, a fourth-year College student.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
