Virginia’s season thus far has been defined by two types of games — a loss in which the offense disappears at times, or a win in which the highly talented offense thrives. Sunday, the Cavaliers (6-2, 0-0 ACC) chose the latter at John Paul Jones Arena.

It is hard to find a game that meant more to Virginia football than this year’s showdown with Virginia Tech — the Cavaliers (10-2, 7-1) decimated the Hokies (3-9, 2-6 ACC) 27-7 Saturday night, clinching their first trip to the ACC Championship game since 2019.

In a pre-Thanksgiving showdown, Virginia headed to the Aquatic Fitness Center to play its final home match of the season against No. 19 North Carolina. What the Cavaliers (12-17, 5-14 ACC) hoped would be an early holiday treat quickly turned into a holiday letdown as they lost to the Tar Heels (21-7, 14-5 ACC) in straight sets, 25-17, 28-26, 25-19.

The men’s tennis program delivered one of its most dynamic performances in recent memory this weekend at the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships in Orlando, Fla., where senior Mans Dahlberg and junior Dylan Dietrich captured the doubles national title and the Cavaliers produced several statement singles runs that reaffirmed the program’s standing among the nation’s best college tennis programs.
The crowd was silenced. The Cavaliers in utter shock. The entirety of Klöckner Stadium was simply demoralized. These were the reactions as Virginia’s storybook season stunningly came to a close Sunday at the hands of UNC Greensboro in a 2-2 tie that saw the Spartans (12-4-6, 3-2 SoCon) advance in penalties.
