Junior guard London Perrantes didn't even attempt a three pointer in the 62-63 loss at Duke. Monday night against NC State, Perrantes drained five of eight shots from beyond the arc, including trifectas on three straight Cavalier possessions in the second half.

Defense limits ACC scoring leader to 14 points, two assists

With less than 48 hours between the final buzzer and Monday’s opening tip, No. 7 Virginia did not have long to process the controversial ending to Saturday’s loss to Duke. The Cavaliers (21-5, 10-4 ACC) took an early body blow from NC State but regrouped and suffocated the life out of the Wolfpack (13-13, 3-10 ACC) in the second half en route to a 73-53 victory inside John Paul Jones Arena.

Cavaliers top upset-minded Hokies in Blacksburg, 50-47

The Virginia men’s basketball team survived a major scare against in-state and conference rival Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg. Trailing 43-33 with less than 11 minutes to play, the No. 2 Cavaliers reeled off a game-ending 17-4 run to deal the Hokies their seventh straight defeat by a final score of 50-47.

​Men’s basketball slams Georgia Tech, 57-28

The Virginia men’s basketball team stung Georgia Tech, 57-28, Thursday night at John Paul Jones Arena. The No. 2 Cavaliers (18-0, 6-0 ACC) kept the Yellow Jackets (9-9, 0-6 ACC) to 12 second-half points while holding an opponent to less than 30 overall for the third time this year.

It was Feb. 2013. Senior forward Darion Atkins was sidelined with a shin injury. Junior center Mike Tobey came down with mononucleosis. Junior guard Justin Anderson, the team's 6-foot-6 shooting guard, was forced to play power forward down the stretch in ACC play.

The Virginia men’s basketball team looks to continue its torrid start to the season Thursday night against Georgia Tech in Charlottesville. With more than half the regular season complete, the Cavaliers are 17-0, their best start since the 1980-81 team won its first 23 games.

Men's basketball trounces Tigers, 65-42

Virginia junior guard Justin Anderson scored nine of his 11 first-half points from long range Tuesday night against Clemson at John Paul Jones Arena. But when junior guard Malcolm Brogdon found him on the baseline with an open lane to the hoop shortly after the break, the ACC’s leading 3-point shooter soared in for a monster two-handed jam.

Cavaliers shell Terrapins, 76-65

The No. 7 Virginia men’s basketball stayed perfect on the season, dispatching the No. 21 Maryland Terrapins by a final score of 76-65. The win marks the Cavaliers’ first victory over a ranked opponent in their 2014-15 campaign.

The last time the Virginia basketball team played in Harrisonburg, legend Ralph Sampson was in the building following a program-record 30 win season that propelled the Cavaliers to a top-10 ranking entering the season.

Basketball teams announce new recruiting classes

Virginia men’s basketball coach Tony Bennett announced Wednesday afternoon that the team had signed the bulky Brewster Academy senior forward Jarred Reuter to a National Letter of Intent. Earlier in the day, Virginia women’s basketball coach Joanne Boyle also announced that high school senior post players Debra Ferguson, Moné Jones and Shakyna Payne would all head to Charlottesville for the 2015-16 season.

Cavaliers visit James Madison to start new season

The Virginia men’s basketball team will tip off its 2014-15 regular season this Friday night at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Junior forward Evan Nolte and sophomore guard London Perrantes have been suspended for the game due to violations of team rules over the summer.
