Darden ranking falls 10 spots

Darden’s ranking has dropped significantly in this year's Bloomberg Businessweek’s listing of the nation’s best business schools, slipping from No. 10 in 2013 to No. 20.

Bodo’s Bagels, Christian’s Pizza to deliver

OrderUp Charlottesville, an online and mobile marketplace which allows individuals to order food from select local restaurants for delivery, expanded its pool of restaurants to include Bodo’s Bagels and Christian’s Pizza this past week. This expansion supplements OrderUp’s goal to offer service from a full range of restaurants enjoyed by both Charlottesville locals and students.

ISIS: a global issue with a local angle

A collaborative effort between the University, charity organizations and research groups brought a swath of engaged professors, politicians and aid workers to Grounds last month for a panel to discuss the Islamic State, the violence the organization perpetrates against women and various strategies the international community can employ to alleviate the challenges victims face.

​Education prof. wins grant to study ways to improve talented and gifted education

Education Prof. Carolyn Callahan, along with her colleagues at the University of Connecticut and Virginia Tech, has been awarded two federal grants to investigate and improve the education of underrepresented gifted students in urban and rural areas. The two grants will allow Callahan and her colleagues to study schools in Colorado, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia to find schools in both areas that successfully identify and educate their gifted students, given that students of color, students of low-income backgrounds and students in rural areas are all more likely to be overlooked than students elsewhere.
