ACC honors football duo
Virginia wide receiver Tavon Mason was named the ACC's specialist of the week and center Kevin Bailey earned ACC offensive lineman of the week honors.
Mason set a new Virginia record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Cavaliers' 39-38 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday. He returned the ball five times for an average of 33.3 yards per return. Mason also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Bryson Spinner for the first score of the game. Mason is the second Cavalier to win the specialist of the week award. Punter Mike Abrams earned the honor Oct. 22.
After moving from left tackle to center two weeks ago, Bailey turned in his second solid performance at his new position for the ACC's weekly honors. He was credited with four knockdown blocks, did not miss any assignments and did not allow any quarterback pressure in the game. Wake Forest center Vince Azzolina shared the award with Bailey.
