Charlottesville Police have charged two men in the robbery of a University student which occurred in June on the railroad tracks between Virginia Avenue and Chancellor Street. Police arrested 25-year-old Armando Martinez and 18-year-old Dustin Knighton, both from Albemarle County.
Charlottesville Police Detective Jim Mooney told The Daily Progress the June robbery case was solved through the assistance of information received through the local Crimestoppers hotline.
In June, the victim, identified as Robert Vineyard, allegedly was struck in the head at least three times and had his cash, credit cards and watch stolen. He was later treated for minor injuries at the University Hospital.

Knighton, 18, was arrested earlier in the month, with two other suspects, and charged with two counts of mob assault in a Sept. 21 attack on two University students leaving a fraternity party. Police said the attack may have been an initiation activity for the local gang, "D-Block."
Police, however, told The Daily Progress that the June incident did not involve a gang.
Also arrested in connection with the Sept. 21 beating were a 27-year-old man and a juvenile who police said also are associated with the D-Block gang.
Both suspects are being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
