Fire erupts in retirement home Friday night

The Charlottesville Fire Department said a small fire started in the laundry room of Midway Manor on Water St. Friday night.Officials evacuated the retirement home and said the blaze was suppressed by the building's sprinkler system by the time they arrived.No one was injured.

Residents have since returned to their homes.Fire damages are estimated at $2,000, while water from the sprinkler system caused nearly $5,000 worth of damage.
